The state of Mon is located in southeastern Burma. It is bordered by the Andaman Sea to the south and west, the Tenasserim Hills to the east, and Kayin State to the north. The state has a population of 1.7 million people. The capital city of Mon State is Mawlamyaing. Other major cities include Thaton and Ye. The state has a tropical climate with monsoon rains from May to October.

The landscape of Mon State is varied. The coast is lined with mangrove forests and sandy beaches. Inland, there are mountains, valleys, and plains. The state is home to several national parks, including Kyaiktiyo National Park and Hpa-An National Park

Demographically, Mon State is predominantly Buddhist (90%) with a small minority of Christians (10%). The majority of the population speaks the Mon language (70%), while other
