Nay Pyi Taw (pronounced ‘Naypiddaw’), means ‘Abode of Kings’, is the administrative capital of the Union of Myanmar. Naypyitaw have been founded on a green field site some 3 kilometres west of Pyinmana. Naypyidaw is located between the Bago Yoma and Shan Yoma mountain ranges.  Centrally located, it is 376 km from Yangon and 274 km from Mandalay, being easily accessible from all parts of the Union.

Naypyidaw Union Territory consists of 2 districts (Ottarathiri Dirtrict and Dekkhinathiri District) subdivided into 8 townships. Pyinmana, Lewe, and Tatkone townships were all formerly part of Yamethin District in Mandalay Region. Ottarathiri, Dekkhinathiri, Popphathiri, Zabuthiri, and Zeyathiri are all new townships under construction. The construction of new townships is part of this effort to make Naypyidaw a more appealing destination for visitors. So far, the results have been promising, with a number of businesses and hotels already setting up operations in the union territory. Several new hotels have been built, and a number of attractions are being developed, including a golf course, an amusement park, and a safari park. With its modern facilities and convenient location, Naypyidaw is poised to become a major tourism destination in Myanmar.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit to Nay Pyi Taw is from October to March. In winter, the weather is not too hot and cold. It is pleasant to visit around and you can go for cycling in that season. Summer is hot and dry. If you visit there in that season, you need to bring water and hat with you. With the heavy rain in rainy season is not suitable to visit around, but for those who like rainy season can be able to see beautiful environment.

How to get there

There are many ways to get to Naypyidaw by Flight, Bus, Taxi and train. Flight can be available with two ways, International and Domestic airlines. Domestic airlines fly to Yangon and other cities regularly. The city has a central bus station and it is available to all regions. Naypyidaw railway station was opened at milepost No. (233/0), between Ywataw station and Kyihtaunggan station on the Yangon-Mandalay railroad. It takes nine hours to get from Yangon to Pyinmana.
