Kachin State is the third-largest land area of the 14 States and Regions of Myanmar and the capital is Myitkyina. Other notable cities are Mogok, Bhamo, Mohnyin, and Putao. Kachin relates to a group of six ethnicities, the Jingpo, the Rawang, the Lisu, the Zaiwa, the Lashi/Lachik, and the Lawngwaw/Maru. According to the census of 2014, 1689441 population have lived, and the most religions are Christianity and animism, and also the Buddhists. Jingpho ethnic language is widely used and the second is the Maru language. Kachin state played a key part in the signing of the Myanmar independence treaty (Panglong Agreement) and was a major trading center based on agriculture and trade with China including Jade.

How to get there

Kachin State is served by Bhamo Airport, Myitkyina Airport, Putao Airport, Myanmar Airways International, and Air KBZ fly from Yangon to Myitkyina 6 times a week. And the railroad will take 21-30 hours from Myitkyina and Mandalay. During the rainy season, there are floods and landslides, In the dry season (October and June), Myitkyina to Bhamaw road can be used.

Located at the sea level of 4,712 feet, Taunggyi is one of the hilly regions and home of numerous ethnics.
